Abstract

Abstract Views: 612

This study develops and tests an integrated model to investigate the phenomenon of employee green behaviour in the hotel industry of Pakistan. Thus, drawing upon the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), the study examines the antecedents (i.e., employee environmental knowledge and motivation) and outcomes (i.e., job performance) of employee green behaviour. Empirical data have been collected from operational-level employees of 3-star and above hotels via a self-administered survey-based questionnaire in three different time lags, i.e., T1, T2, and T3. Statistical software was used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that employee environmental knowledge and motivation have a significant positive impact on employee green behaviour and green behaviour is significantly related to job performance. The result of mediation analysis shows that employee green behaviour significantly mediates between employee environmental knowledge, motivation, and job performance. The findings contributed to the employee green behaviour literature by providing empirical evidence in the context of a planned behaviour theory and offering actionable insights for managers and policymakers aiming to cultivate a green-orientated culture to enhance employee performance. The limitations and future research directions are discussed at the end of the research study.
