The pandemic has underscored the vulnerability of the tourism sector across the world. This study examined the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism in Central Visayas, Philippines. The study identified establishments that pursued flexible work arrangements, temporary and permanent closure of tourism-related businesses in the region, and displaced workers as key indicators of the study. The review of records revealed that a high COVID-19 case has forced the tourism-related business to either, temporary or permanently close their businesses. Some businesses adopted flexible work arrangements which even resulted in the retrenchment of workers. A master plan should be created to future-proof Central Visayas against health crises.
